If you have not yet set up a phone number for two-factor authentication, you will be required to log in to your account from a web browser and/or computer to set it up. When logging back into your account from the mobile app, you will then be able to use the phone number you set up on your web browser and/or computer in order to authenticate the device.

Will I need to verify two-factor authentication from the mobile app?
Yes, you will be requested to verify all your devices. This includes the mobile application.

If you already logged in to HomeAway website from your phone and authenticated using two-factor authentication, you will still be required to provide a verification code when logging in from the mobile application.

How do I enable two-factor authentication on my mobile device?
  1. Download the most recent version of the HomeAway owner app in Google Play for Android or the App Store for iOS.
  2. Select how you would like to receive the code and which number you would like to receive the code.
  3. Generate a code to authenticate.
  4. Enter the code you received via SMS (text message) or phone call into your device.
Can I add phone numbers for two-factor authentication from the mobile app?
No. To add new numbers for two-factor authentication in your account you will need to log in to your account from a web browser and/or computer.

Can I use two-factor authentication codes from the website on the mobile app or vice-versa?
You can generate a code from the website to use on the mobile app. However, the authentication code is only valid for half an hour and will only work once. You cannot use one code to authenticate from both the mobile app and the website.

If I am already logged in on the mobile app, will I have to verify two-factor authentication?
Yes. For the security of you and your guest’s details, you will be requested to enter your email address and password again, as well as a verification code you can request via SMS or phone call.

How often will I need to verify through two-factor authentication?
The rules for authenticating through the mobile app are the same as from the website: we will recognise your device for up to 12 months. After that time, you will be requested to confirm it is you again. If you reset the application/empty the application’s cache data, you may be requested to provide a verification code as well.
